PEAT FREE - ORGANIC CACTUS & SUCCULENT SOIL WITH
LIGHT ORGANIC SLOW RELEASE NUTRIENT
'Elite' Blend including coconut husk charcoal and organic Perlite substitute
This 'Elite' blend of growing media from E-Coco features coconut husk shell charcoal for helping to maintain fresh soil and providing excellent drainage and aeration. It is generally recognized that charcoal is a beneficial addition to cactus growing media. Our charcoal is horticultural grade and no deforestation is involved with this product.
The second important feature of our 'Elite' range is an organic alternative to Perlite - heat-treated rice husks. Perlite is mined and heated to enormous temperatures, creating several environmental issues. Rice husks or hulls, are widely recognized as the organic alternative to Perlite. And as a bonus, it tends not to rise to the surface of the pot as Perlite does. We put our rice husks through hot air at 100 C to ensure that pests, seeds and pathogens are destroyed.

(Note: Because some cactus growers prefer to use their own proven cactus nutrient, we supply our nutrient in a separate bag so it can be used only if required).

The Cactus & Succulent Society of America recommend horticultural grade cocopeat as the perfect base material for successful cactus and succulents. E-Coco Cactus & Succulent Soil meets that criteria. After maturing our cocopeat for over one year prior to processing, we wash it with fresh water to reduce salt levels to below minimum commercial grower standards. (EC: <0.5 mS/cm). (Many commercial growers use our cocopeat growing media).

Cacti & succulents require a free draining material and good aeration. so we add a blend of horticultural grit and coco husk chips to the mix. Cocopeat contains natural rooting hormones which help newly transplanted stock to get re-established quickly.

Cocopeat and coco husk chips come from annually renewed sources. No trees are felled at harvest time, no pesticides are used in culture and mainly manual labour is used for processing and packing.
