ORGANIC WORM FERTILIZER & NATURAL INSECTICIDE
CONCENTRATED RED WORM CASTING EXTRACT
Gladioli are heavy feeders. They are also sun worshippers. They not only appreciate a good start in life when as corms they are planted in the ground, they also need regular organic feeding every month during the growing season and two-weekly when flower spikes start to emerge. Large hybrids may need feeding weekly in poor soils once flower spikes are formed. You can see enlarged stems at soil level which indicates flower spikes are ready to emerge. Then is the time to feed them well.
Good soil preparation with Nature's Gift Worm Fertilizer is necessary to encourage strong growth, which will in turn not only enable the corms to kick-start the new season's growth - but will also help to protect it from fungal diseases. Then a monthly drench must follow throughout the growing season as shoots emerge from the soil - and then two-weekly feeding or more as outlined above.
If you are planting in the garden, first take out a cube of soil 30 x 30 x 15 cm deep.Place the soil you have taken out in a wheelbarrow. Dilute four capfuls of Nature's Gift in one litre of water and spray it over the soil with a fine rose watering can. Turn the soil over with a spade or trowel to ensure it permeates right through the soil. Repeat if necessary. Squeeze out excess water (and save it for later).
Then put some soil in the base of the planting hole and place the corms on the top in odd number groups. For tall growing varieties now is the time to insert a cane for supporting the blooms later. Fill in with more soil and finally water well in with the nutrient inoculated water you saved earlier. Top off with a mulch of E-Coco Coconut Husk Mulch to discourage slugs and snails.
Your glads are now set up for a full season of growth. Follow up with a regular monthly drenching with Nature's Gift, diluted one capful to 500 ml of water until flower buds emerge, then feed as above.
If you intend to keep the corm lets at the end of the season, water them lightly when re-planted with one capful of Nature's Gift to 1 litre of water every month to help build them up for earlier maturity.
Whilst all Nature's Gift bottles are essentially the same product, many of the dilution rates, application methods, frequencies of application and other factors, vary considerably. One application method or dilution rate will likely not suit another variety. Also, customers often ask us if the product is suitable for a particular variety of plant. We therefore produce a wide range of labels, each with its own specific set of instructions. If you buy several bottles for different applications, each will have its own instructions for use.
PRECAUTION: Microbes in this concentrate can be killed or affected by chlorine. For this reason clean rainwater needs to be used, or bottled water. Chlorinated water can be used if it has been left to stand in the open air for 48 hours for the chlorine to disperse.
